Gas Distribution Assistant Field Operator

Build gas distribution skills with FortisBC as a full-time Distribution Assistant, learning pipefitting, welding, and safe field operations across British Columbia.

This full-time regular role supports construction, maintenance, and operation of the Gas Distribution system. You will assist with distribution pipes, fittings, repairs, and alterations while receiving classroom and on-the-job training. Training also covers safety, customer service, and software applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with installing distribution pipes, fittings, and related components
• Support repairs and alterations to existing mains and services
• Learn welding and pipefitting skills through hands-on training
• Use required tools, procedures, equipment, and instruments
• Complete time slips, trucking slips, and simple work forms

Requirements:

• High school, Grade 12, or GED graduation
• Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and safe driving record
• Mechanical aptitude and initiative
• Demonstrated safe work habits and responsibility
• Ability to walk, bend, lift, and work outdoors
