Hospital Laboratory Assistant Specimen Processing

Process and dispatch clinical specimens as a Laboratory Assistant I at Devon General Hospital. Support safe, accurate laboratory service across nearby Alberta locations.

This position performs varied hospital laboratory functions, including specimen procurement, handling, processing, testing, and reporting. You will enter patient information into EPIC, transport specimens and slides, troubleshoot issues, and provide reception support. Shifts are primarily at Devon Laboratory, with WestView and Leduc coverage as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Procure, handle, process, dispatch, and test laboratory specimens
• Report specimen analysis results accurately and safely
• Transport specimens and slides between designated laboratory areas
• Troubleshoot problem specimens during laboratory processing
• Provide reception duties and client service

Requirements:

• Accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant education or equivalent completion
• Successful demonstration of laboratory skills and data entry
• Ability to manage priorities amid change and interruptions
• Clear, accurate communication in person, by phone, or writing
• Respectful, professional, and courteous representation of Laboratory Medicine
