Utility Worker I Substation Operations

Support NS Power substation operations in Sydney, NS, using heavy-labour capability and a proactive approach to workplace safety. This regular full-time position is on-site.

As a Utility Worker I, you will perform general utility duties supporting substation and depot operations. Your work includes routine, preventative, and repair maintenance, equipment cleaning, material handling, and property upkeep. You will also support environmental controls, staging activities, and provincial travel when assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform heavy labour and general utility duties safely
• Clean substation, depot equipment, and apparel
• Complete plumbing, roofing, fence, and maintenance repairs
• Handle materials and order commonly used consumables
• Support severe outage events across Nova Scotia

Requirements:

• Grade XII education or equivalent with reading and writing skills
• Valid Nova Scotia driver's licence and two years' driving experience
• Ability to perform heavy labour and physical work
• Willingness to complete safety and job-related training
• Ability to follow Occupational Health and Safety requirements
