About the Client:
We\'re seeking a compassionate caregiver for a 92-year-old woman living independently in a retirement home apartment in Guelph. She has a history of minor strokes but has recovered well. Recently, there have been concerns about a fall in the bathroom and some challenges with medication adherence and hydration. She maintains her own two-bedroom apartment and is generally independent but needs support to start her day safely and maintain her health routines.
Responsibilities:
- Provide morning care and assistance to help the client start her day
- Monitor and encourage medication adherence
- Ensure proper hydration throughout the visit
- Assist with personal care including showering and grooming as needed
- Help prepare the client for lunch service at 11:30 AM
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Monitor for any changes in condition and communicate with family
- Ensure safety and fall prevention during morning routines
What We\'re Looking For:
- Experience working with seniors, particularly those with stroke history
- Strong attention to detail regarding medication management
- Ability to encourage hydration and healthy habits
- Patient, warm, and respectful demeanor
- Reliable and punctual for daily morning visits
- Comfortable working in a retirement home setting
- Good communication skills with family members
- PSW certification preferred
Schedule:
Daily visits, 7 days per week, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM (2 hours per day). This schedule may require multiple caregivers to provide consistent coverage throughout the week while maintaining the same caregivers on the same days for continuity of care.
The family is looking to start services within the next week or two and will be present for the initial introduction and warm handoff to ensure a smooth transition.
