Support special needs students as a full-time Educational Assistant with empathetic student care, classroom support, and individualized program assistance. This 35-hour weekly position is a 10-month assignment.
The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board seeks an Educational Assistant to support prescribed programs in individual and group settings. You will assist teachers with Individualized Education Plans, lessons, student development observations, behaviour management, and daily classroom routines. The position starts immediately, with unknown duration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students transitioning from home to school
- Support lessons, projects, crafts, charts, and teaching materials
- Observe and report academic, motor, social, and behavioural development
- Assist with feeding, toileting, lifting, and clothing changes
- Support supervision, field trips, classroom routines, and school duties
Requirements:
- Completed educational assistant program or equivalent
- Minimum one year experience working with children
- Positive, empathetic attitude toward students
- Ability to maintain confidential information discreetly
- Basic computer software knowledge and physical-task ability
