Structural Steel Quality Inspector

Apply steel fabrication inspection expertise at Calhoun Super Structures in the Goderich manufacturing plant, working in person and on site. Verify welding quality, materials, and documentation.

This Quality Inspector supports structural steel production by checking compliance with CWB W47.1, AWS requirements, engineering drawings, and company standards. The work includes visual weld inspection, measuring tools, inspection reporting, and quality control activities. You will collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering while reporting to the Quality Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect raw materials, certifications, welds, components, and assemblies
• Interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, procedures, and tolerances
• Document inspections, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions
• Support customer inspections, audits, and quality management requirements
• Lead root cause analysis and recurring defect training

Requirements:

• Three to seven years in steel fabrication or manufacturing
• CWB 47.1 certification as Weld Supervisor or Quality Inspector Level 1
• AWS Weld Inspector certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Proficiency with calipers, gauges, and weld inspection tools
• Strong documentation, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
