Forensic Psychiatric Nurse Edmonton

Support youth and young adults at Alberta Hospital Edmonton through psychiatric assessment, de-escalation, and high-quality inpatient nursing care.

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, you will serve Unit 3-6’s Turningpoint Program, an 18-bed forensic unit. Provide assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Support stabilization, treatment, safety, and well-being for adolescents with legal standing or acute psychiatric disturbances.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Provide stabilization and treatment within the forensic unit
• Teach, counsel, and advocate for patients
• Manage and de-escalate complex, volatile behaviours
• Document and chart patient care accurately

Requirements:

• Accredited psychiatric nursing education program completion
• Active or eligible CRPNA registration and practice permit
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
• Two years’ psychiatric, mental health, or forensic nursing experience
• Suicide Prevention and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification
