Support specimen collection and laboratory services in Fredericton as a Medical Laboratory Assistant with Horizon Health Network. Permanent full-time work includes rotating shifts.
This Medical Laboratory Assistant supports pre- and post-analytical tasks and routine technical procedures. Responsibilities include specimen preparation, patient registration, order entry, and information services. The position rotates between Specimen Collection at DECRH and Fredericton Northside.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, receive, and prepare patient specimens
- Register patients and enter laboratory orders
- Provide information to patients during registration
- Perform maintenance, decontamination, sterilization, and cleaning
- Provide reception, messaging, and mail services
Requirements:
- Graduate of a Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent
- Successfully challenge the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science exam
- Attend work regularly as required
- Perform the duties of the position
- Communicate effectively in English
