With over 45 years of experience, Pivotal is a leading provider of outsourced HR, Payroll, and Recruitment services. As a multiple-year Great Place to Work award winner, we pride ourselves on creating a collaborative, supportive environment where our people can grow and succeed.
As a member of our HR consulting team, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Grow your career: Gain exposure to different clients, industries, and HR challenges, with opportunities to transition into new client assignments over time.

The Role
As an HR Manager, you'll work closely with an experienced HR Director while serving as a trusted HR partner to our client.
This is a hands-on role that requires someone who is equally comfortable advising senior leadership, supporting managers, and connecting with employees on the shop floor.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing day-to-day HR guidance and support to employees, managers, and leadership.
- Managing employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.
- Coaching and advising managers on performance management, employee engagement, and workplace challenges.
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee development, and retention initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with employment legislation, workplace policies, and HR best practices.
- Supporting organizational changes, workforce planning, and other strategic HR initiatives.
- Building strong relationships across all levels of the organization through a visible, approachable, and practical HR presence.
- Identifying opportunities to improve HR processes, policies, and the overall employee experience.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an HR professional who brings strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of progressive HR generalist or HR management experience.
- CHRP or CHRL designation preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Experience managing employee relations matters and providing practical HR advice to managers.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to confidently engage with employees at all levels, from frontline staff to senior leadership.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
The Following Experience Would Be an Asset:
- Experience in the logistics, transportation, or distribution industry.
- Experience supporting a unionized workforce.
- Experience working in an operational environment with frontline employees.
- Previous experience in an HR consulting or outsourced HR environment.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?
The right person is approachable, confident, and comfortable rolling up their sleeves.
You enjoy being visible in the workplace, building trust with employees, and working collaboratively with management to solve problems. You're not someone who wants to spend every day behind a desk. You understand the importance of being present, walking the shop floor, and developing relationships across the organization.
You're also adaptable, solutions-focused, and excited about the opportunity to grow your career by supporting different clients and industries over time.
What We Offer
- Competitive annual salary of $70,000–$75,000, based on experience.
- Comprehensive benefits package.
- Hybrid work arrangement.
- A supportive, collaborative team of experienced HR professionals.
- Opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and career advancement.
- Exposure to a variety of industries and HR challenges.
- A workplace that values independence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
