Our banking client is seeking a Intermediate Backend (Python) Software Developer to design, build and maintain secure, scalable APIs and integrations on an API gateway platform within the banking and industry (Hybrid, Calgary AB)[-98].
Overview:
This is a backfill on a small team (1-5), building API products and solutions that integrate into the gateway and broader ecosystem.
Must-Haves:
- 6+ years of experience as a Software Developer
- Strong Python and JavaScript development experience
- Proven experience developing and maintaining REST APIs for secure, scalable and performant integrations
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, with automated testing using PyTest
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to explain technical solutions and influence stakeholders to reach consensus
- Prior experience working within Canadian banking environments
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with SOAP APIs
- Experience with API gateway platforms and API products
- Experience developing automated test harnesses
- Experience leading technical discovery and ideation sessions
Responsibilities:
- Design, code, unit test and integrate new features as defined by the technical product owner and team
- Build and maintain APIs and API products that support secure, scalable integrations
- Lead ideation and technical discovery sessions, proposing digital solutions to advance platform capabilities
- Assist in developing automated test harnesses to ensure high-quality code
- Monitor, diagnose and resolve operational and performance issues to keep production services highly available
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate APIs and solutions into the gateway and broader ecosystem
- Complete deployment, maintenance, support and business documentation
