Metering Technician

Maritime Electric Company, Limited is seeking candidates for the full-time position of Metering Technician.

Maritime Electric has an opening for a Metering Technician at our West Royalty Service Centre located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. In this position, you will be responsible for scheduling and providing technical expertise in metering such as maintaining meter boards, testing equipment, measuring instruments and metering devices, verifying drawings for connected loads, metering accessibility and specifications of metering equipment required. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for testing and inspecting transformer meter installations.

This position requires diverse skills, including attention to detail, problem solving, computer skills, organizational, and technical skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate an aptitude or working knowledge of single and three phase transformer connections, voltage and service characteristics.

The successful candidate will possess a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Electrical –Electronics Technology and must be eligible for membership in the ACETTPEI. If the successful candidate does not have the Journey Meterperson Trade Qualification at time of hiring, they must obtain it within a reasonable period of time. A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required for this position.

The hourly rate for this position is $50.01 per hour (90% of the range rate for probationary period) per annum as per Current Collective Agreement between Maritime Electric Company, Limited and local No.1928 - Unit 10 IBEW.
