Technical Program Manager

Location: Ottawa, Ontario
Team: Technology and Development
Schedule: Full-time

Our Mission

Lumenix develops hardware, software, sensor systems, and artificial intelligence solutions for healthcare and other industries across North America. Our mission is to improve safety, operational efficiency, and quality of life through innovative, practical applications of technology.

Our Artificially Intelligent Monitoring System (AIMS) applies privacy-preserving ambient AI to healthcare environments, providing actionable intelligence that helps clinical teams improve patient safety and care. Lumenix is expanding its technology platform and pursuing opportunities in both domestic and international markets.

Our Culture

Lumenix values technical excellence, collaboration, initiative, and practical problem-solving. Our multidisciplinary teams bring together diverse skills and perspectives to address complex challenges. We encourage independent thinking, professional growth, and a shared commitment to delivering meaningful results for our clients.

Our History

Founded in 2012, Lumenix initially developed a national platform combining lighting, software, and sensor technologies for clean technology and property technology applications. Following the acquisition of AIMS technology in 2020, the company expanded its focus to include ambient AI solutions for clinical environments.

AIMS uses a network of ceiling-mounted devices and infrared-based 3D sensors to anonymously perceive human movement and positioning without collecting personally identifiable information. The platform delivers real-time intelligence designed to help healthcare teams prevent adverse events, improve health outcomes, and support clinical staff.

You

You are an experienced technical program leader who has brought structure and predictability to complex engineering organizations. You understand that effective program management is not simply administration; it enables engineers to concentrate on their work while ensuring that priorities, resources, and commitments remain aligned.

You are comfortable working across technical disciplines, communicating with executives and engineers, and making difficult prioritization decisions. You can distinguish genuine emergencies from competing requests, recognize technical and organizational dependencies, and provide realistic assessments of what can be delivered and when.

Role Summary

Lumenix is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead program execution across the AIMS development team. This role is responsible for bringing structure, accountability, and predictability to a fast-moving, multidisciplinary engineering organization.

You will own priorities, planning, and cross-team coordination across node software, perception and machine learning, backend and cloud infrastructure, DevOps and quality assurance, field operations, and hardware. You will act as the liaison between the executive team and the development team, establishing a disciplined process for managing incoming requests and protecting engineers from shifting priorities so they can stay focused on their work.

You may also be called upon to represent Lumenix in high-value client meetings, provide technical input on documentation such as RFP responses, and participate in hiring as the team scales.

Key Responsibilities

● Own the development planning cycle end to end: intake, prioritization, estimation, and delivery against the roadmap across all development sub-teams.

● Establish and enforce a disciplined process for evaluating and prioritizing development requests, assessing urgency, technical feasibility, resource requirements, and impact on existing commitments. Escalate competing priorities to the CTO when necessary.

● Maintain a realistic view of resource allocation so that urgent client needs can be triaged without unnecessarily sacrificing forward progress on the roadmap.

● Establish measurable delivery commitments, maintain accurate development forecasts, track progress against milestones, and drive corrective action when work deviates from plan.

● Act as the liaison between the executive team and the development team, translating commercial priorities into technical plans and technical constraints into commercial language.

● Coordinate dependencies across node software, machine learning, backend, DevOps, hardware, and field operations, and surface risks early enough to be acted on.

● Support or represent Lumenix in technical and client-facing engagements as delegated by the CTO, including client meetings, conference support, RFP and tender responses, and technical interviewing as the team grows.

Skills

● Exceptional organizational judgment and the ability to manage multiple workstreams without losing sight of important details.

● Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to brief executives and engineers equally well.

● Comfort operating in ambiguity and bringing structure without unnecessary bureaucracy.

● Credibility with engineers, earned through technical understanding rather than process authority.

● Calm and sound judgment under pressure, particularly when competing urgent priorities arrive at once.

● Strong facilitation skills across planning and cross-functional sessions.

Qualifications

● Five or more years in technical program management, engineering program management, or a comparable delivery leadership role.

● Demonstrated experience managing complex, interdependent engineering programs across multiple disciplines, ideally involving both hardware and software integration.

● Working knowledge of agile practices, with the judgment to adapt them rather than apply them rigidly.

● Demonstrated experience bringing predictability and delivery accountability to a team that previously lacked them.

● Ability to understand technical dependencies, integration risks, and engineering trade-offs sufficiently to challenge assumptions and assess delivery feasibility.

● Post-secondary education in engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have (Not Required)

● Experience in a regulated or safety-critical environment, such as healthcare, medical devices, or aviation.

● Background in IoT, edge computing, or distributed sensor systems.

● Experience supporting technical sales, RFP, or tender processes.

● PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent certification.

The actual base salary compensation will vary depending on local market conditions, geography, and relevant job-related factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and education or training.

Vacancy Type: This posting is for a newly created vacancy within Lumenix.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI): Lumenix does not use artificial intelligence to screen, assess or select applicants. All applications are reviewed by our hiring team.
