What you'll do

Responsibilities

The College & Career Prep Coordinator (CCPC) plays an important role in helping NSCC students feel welcomed, confident, and supported as they begin their NSCC journey and prepare for life beyond graduation.

Reporting to the Manager, College and Career Prep, the CCPC works alongside students at every stage of their college experience. Through a student-centered and relationship-focused approach, the CCPC helps students explore career options, navigate educational pathways, build career readiness skills, and prepare for successful transitions to employment, further education, or other meaningful opportunities.

Drawing on career development principles and student transition practices, the CCPC works with students to help them recognize their strengths, develop the skills and confidence needed to achieve their goals, and make informed decisions about their academic and career futures.

The CCPC will:

  • Facilitate career exploration and career planning activities that help students identify their strengths, interests, values, and potential career pathways.
  • Support students in understanding the financial, personal, and practical commitments associated with college success, and connect them with the programs, resources, and services they need to thrive before beginning their studies, including student loans, scholarships and awards, childcare supports, and other available resources.
  • Focus on supporting students nearing program completion by helping them develop career plans, connect with employers and industry partners, explore further education opportunities, and navigate the transition from college to employment, continuing education, or other meaningful post-graduation pathways.
  • Serve as a dedicated point of contact for assigned academic schools, collaborating with faculty and staff to identify student needs, coordinate supports, and promote student success initiatives.
  • Contribute to a seamless student onboarding experience by working collaboratively across departments and integrating College initiatives such as Get Started, Test Drive, Campus Tours, Career Fairs, and Industry Events.

This role helps students identify their strengths, interests, values, and goals; develop career management skills; prepare for college success; and connect with opportunities for employment, industry engagement, and further education.
