NSB Omega is searching for an Electrical Engineer for our MAJOR Oil & Gas Client in St. John's, NL.

Assignment Description

Our Client and its subsidiaries are seeking three professional electrical engineers to support the execution of capital and operating projects in the terminal stations across Labrador. The position will be based in St. John’s, with regular travel to project sites in Labrador.

The work will primarily focus on providing electrical engineering support for the execution of capital and operating projects in the Labrador region. Responsibilities will include preparing, reviewing, and approving electrical engineering designs and technical documentation for industrial electrical systems and equipment, including switchyards, transmission systems, terminal stations, and associated infrastructure.

The Electrical Engineer will provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design development,procurement,construction,commissioning,andcloseout.Therolewillalso provide engineering oversight and field support to ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and Hydro requirements, with a strong focus on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).

Assignmentsmayinclude projectsacrossvariousNLHydrositesbasedon projectrequirements and resource needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·ProvidetechnicalsupporttotheProjectManageronvarious projects;

·Performengineeringduediligenceforprojectplanningand delivery;

·Facilitateand/orcompleteprojectriskmanagementincludingriskidentificationand associated mitigation;

·Perform project scope verifications, field verifications, engineering data gathering, and associated detailed project planning activities;

·Reviewtenderpackagespreparedbyotherconsultantsand contractors;

·Reviewshopdrawingspreparedbycontractorsand vendors;

·Preparetenderpackagesfor contracts;

·Preparerequestsforproposals (RFPs);

·Providetechnicalinputasadesignteammemberforprojectsandothertechnical documentation;

·Directandsuperviseconsultantsandcontractorsduringthecompletionofspecific engagements;

·Overseeingqualityplanningandassociatedinspectionplansforassigned work

·Reviewandapprovereportspreparedby consultants;

·AttendFactoryAcceptanceTests(FAT)as required;

·Conductregulartraveltofield/sitelocationstomonitorconstructionactivities,oversee testing, verify project progress, and provide support to site teams;

·Facilitateeffectivecommunicationacross stakeholders;

·Reviewandapprovetechnicaldocumentation,including commissioning;

·Assistwithprojectcloseoutactivities,ensuringsmoothtransitionofcompletedassetsto operations;

·Promotecontinualimprovementthroughlessonslearned,innovativeapproaches,and sharing best practices with other project teams;

·SubmittimesheetsanddocumentationinaccordancewithNLHydro’sproject management requirements;

·Otherdutiesas assigned.

EDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCE REQUIRED

·Engineeringdegreein Electrical

·Registered as a professional engineer (P. Eng) with the Professional Engineers and GeoscientistsofNewfoundlandandLabrador(PEGNL)association(orotherCanadian engineering association);

·8yearsormoreexperienceoverseeingprojectengineeringinterminalstation, transmission, and control structure projects;

·Experienceinprojectscopedefinition,engineeringdatagathering,andassociated detailed project planning activities

·Experienceleadingprojectriskidentificationsand mitigations

·Experiencewithonsiteprojectmonitoringatremote locations

·Experienceindesign,managingconstructioncontractsand commissioning;

·Experienceinpreparingproject estimates;

·Experiencewithprojectqualityandinspection programs

·Provenanddemonstratedcommunication skills;

·Abilitytothriveasaparticipantand/orleaderwithinamulti-disciplineteamofbothinternal and external resources;

·ExcellentcomputerskillsincludingaworkingknowledgeofMicrosoft Office;

·Abilitytoadapttodynamicworkenvironmentsandchangingproject demands.
