Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Industrial Millwright Apprentice.
Job Overview
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a motivated and hands-on individual to join our team as an Industrial Millwright Apprentice.
This position involves working alongside experienced tradespeople to learn how to inspect, maintain, repair, and install industrial mechanical equipment. This role provides practical experience with machinery, tools, and maintenance activities in a safe sustainable environment.
You will gain exposure to mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, lubrication, cooling, and exhaust systems, as well as work with pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, presses, generators, and both pneumatic and hydraulic controls.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist experienced Mechanical Technicians and Millwrights with maintenance, repair, installation, and inspection activities.
- Safely use machine tools, including lathes and milling machines, as well as fabrication tools such as welders, presses, power threaders, and punches.
- Use and maintain basic hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment under guidance.
- Support alignment, measurement, and inspection work using tools such as dial indicators, micrometers, precision levels, and laser alignment equipment.
- Assist with preventive and predictive maintenance activities, including basic equipment inspections and vibration-monitoring tasks.
- Help install, maintain, and service compressed-air, water, and exhaust ducting systems.
- Support maintenance work on equipment such as robotics, pumps, presses, compressors, turbines, material-handling systems, gearboxes, and other industrial machinery.
- Follow established safety procedures, work instructions, and take direction and learn from qualified tradespeople and supervisors.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a 2-or 3-year College Program in Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist, Mechanical Technician/Technologist or Industrial Mechanic Millwright (proof of completion must be included in application)
- Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA (transcript must be included in application)
- Work experience in the Nuclear industry (i.e. Skilled Trades Co-op) would be an asset

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
