Executive Director, Global Payment Services

Job Description

• Provide strategic leadership for the Global Payments function, building a scalable, resilient and globally consistent operating model that supports business growth.
• Drive the technology, automation and transformation roadmap, partnering with Technology and Product teams to increase straight-through processing, reduce manual intervention and strengthen controls.
• Lead bank connectivity, payment platform enhancements and integration initiatives, ensuring efficient and resilient connectivity across internal and external banking systems.
• Maintain executive oversight of global payment operations, ensuring the timely, accurate and secure execution of client, investor, fund, treasury and corporate payments.
• Establish global standards, procedures, controls, SLAs and KPIs to drive service quality, regulatory compliance and a reduction in payment errors, failures and operational incidents.
• Lead the transition and integration of payment activities across the organisation into the Global Payments function, ensuring consistent standards and seamless service delivery.
• Build and develop a high-performing global leadership team, with clear accountability, performance management, coaching and succession planning.
• Lead capacity planning, workforce and location strategy, creating an operating model capable of absorbing growth without linear headcount increases.
• Oversee payment investigations, operational incidents, third-party providers, business continuity and operational resilience, acting as the senior escalation point for critical matters.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and industry requirements, including AML, sanctions, financial crime, data protection and payment standards.
• Partner with business and client teams to support client onboarding, product expansion and evolving payment requirements.
• Provide meaningful management information and risk reporting covering performance, capacity, productivity and operational risk.
• Monitor the following KPI’s to measure productivity:
  • * Payment volume per FTE
  • * STP Rates
  • * Automation Adoption
  • * Capacity Utilization
  • * Reduction in Manual Touch Points
  • * Use of Location Strategy and Operating Model design to manage costs and absorb growth

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
• 10–15 years' experience in Treasury and Payments, ideally within fund services, asset servicing or financial services.
• At least 5 years in senior leadership, with experience leading high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.
• Proven experience building, scaling or transforming global operational functions.
• Deep knowledge of treasury and payment operations, including SWIFT, wire payments, banking platforms, correspondent banking and payment routing.
• Strong understanding of cross-border payments, FX and multi-currency cash management.
• Good knowledge of KYC, AML, sanctions and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Experience supporting hedge funds, mutual funds, private equity and/or real estate funds is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management and programme/change management capabilities.
