Job Description

The Operational Solutions and Technologies team is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions that enhance the resilience, efficiency, and sustainability of critical infrastructure, systems, and engineering projects. Leveraging expertise in cybersecurity, telecommunications, IT/OT convergence, intelligent automation, software and systems engineering, and systems integration, the team develops resilient, scalable, and optimized solutions that ensure the long-term sustainability of infrastructure throughout its lifecycle. Join us and immerse yourself in a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environment where you’ll make a real impact. Together, we’ll push boundaries and go above what’s expected of us to meet the challenges of tomorrow and engineer a better world!

CIMA+ offices in Western Canada are on a strong growth trajectory, creating opportunities to contribute to exciting and complex projects, develop new skills, take on new challenges, and advance your career within the organization.

As a Telecom Drafter, you will be engaged in the preparation and revision of telecommunications drawings and CAD deliverables across a variety of projects for CIMA+'s key clients. Our telecommunications team works with industrial and public-sector clients across power utilities, energy, transportation, telecommunications carriers, and other critical infrastructure sectors.

You will create and update detailed drawings from engineering sketches, redlines, field information, vendor documentation and client standards; prepare drawing packages and related schedules; coordinate with engineers and designers; and support the delivery of accurate, reliable and constructible telecommunications designs across a broad range of wired and wireless applications.

This role offers opportunities to strengthen your telecom drafting capabilities, broaden your exposure to mission-critical infrastructure projects, and progressively take on more complex assignments. This is a hybrid role that can be based out of our offices in Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, or Edmonton.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and revise detailed telecommunications CAD drawings in 2D and 3D, including system block diagrams, network diagrams, equipment layouts, rack elevations, panel layouts, wiring and interconnection diagrams, cable routing, details and installation drawings.
  • Incorporate engineering sketches, redlines, vendor drawings, field information and client standards into drawing deliverables.
  • Prepare bills of materials, cable schedules, equipment lists, nameplate schedules and other drawing-related schedules and data sheets.
  • Prepare complete drawing and deliverable packages for review by engineers and designers.
  • Maintain a high level of drawing accuracy, consistency and compliance with project and client standards.
  • Coordinate with engineers, designers and other project team members to resolve drawing comments and obtain required design information.
  • Organize and prioritize multiple drafting assignments to meet project schedules and quality requirements.
  • Support record/as-built drawing updates and document closeout activities.
  • Participate in site visits and field verification activities, as required.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Technology, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, or equivalent technical training/certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant drafting experience, preferably in telecommunications, utilities, industrial, transportation, or other infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and good working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD drafting.
  • Ability to interpret engineering sketches, markups, technical drawings and design information.
  • Good understanding of CAD standards, drawing organization, layering, references and plotting.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, designers and project teams and manage multiple assignments.
  • Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence

Drafting & CAD Experience

Experience with several of the following drafting tools, deliverables and practices is preferred, commensurate with the level of the position.
