Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Mining and Industrial Water Treatment Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design and upgrading of water treatment infrastructure for mining and industrial projects. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise to complex water challenges and deliver innovative, practical solutions that support environmental remediation and long-term sustainability.

You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting meaningful projects, including active site remediation in Canada’s North, while collaborating with technical specialists, project managers, and clients to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

This position can be based out of any AECOM office from British Columbia to Manitoba.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and serve as a technical advisor to project teams.
  • Develop and provide specialized technical input for studies, assessments, and detailed designs related to water treatment.
  • Develop design approaches, procedures, and technical solutions that support high-quality, cost-effective project delivery.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Develop construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates for projects.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and other technical deliverables.
  • Perform quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.
  • Prepare technical specifications and support the development of procurement and tender documents.
  • Provide technical input to project budgets, schedules, and delivery plans.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical professionals across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Provide direction to junior staff.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • P.Eng within Canada
  • 6+ years of experience in mining and industrial water treatment experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in mining and Industrial water treatment experience
  • Strong understanding of mine water chemistry and metals precipitation processes
  • Experience with detailed design package development (drawings, specifications, process control narratives, etc.)
  • Experience with construction administration (submittal reviews, RFI responses, etc.)
  • Experience in industrial water treatment facility operational optimization
  • Experience with design management activities (e.g., RACI, RAIL, Risk Register development) on multi-disciplinary projects within a broader design program.
