Job Title: Sheet Metal Worker Film Trailer Manufacturing

Job Description

Join a busy trailer manufacturing facility in Chilliwack, BC as a Sheet Metal Worker, where you will help build high-quality film and commercial cargo trailers. You will assemble and install sheet metal components using hand and power tools, support frame preparation, and contribute to the production of unique, custom-built trailers in a collaborative, training-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and fasten exterior sheet metal panels, roofing, and trim on film and commercial cargo trailers.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete daily production tasks.
• Operate riveting equipment and assist with basic welding tasks as required for trailer assembly.
• Prepare frames and sub-components for assembly, ensuring accurate fit and alignment.
• Handle and move sheet metal materials and components, including lifting items up to 50 lbs.
• Work with brake presses and shear presses to shape and cut sheet metal parts as directed.
• Follow work orders, drawings, and measurements to ensure quality and consistency in builds.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with workplace safety practices.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and deadlines.
• Participate in training and cross-training to expand skills across different areas of the shop.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience working with sheet metal, roofing, cladding, or similar construction or fabrication environments.
• Minimum 1 year of experience using hand tools and power tools in a labour, construction, or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Experience using general construction tools, including power tools, hand tools, and measuring tools.
• Familiarity with working on sheet metal components and operating equipment such as brake presses and shear presses.
• Good English communication skills to understand instructions, safety procedures, and work documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in general labour or construction environments.
• Experience in roofing, cladding, or other exterior finishing trades.
• Experience with solar or electric vehicle (EV) systems is an asset.
• Comfort working with riveting or welding equipment is an advantage.
• Willingness to learn new skills and participate in cross-training across departments.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow measurements and specifications accurately.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work full-time Monday to Friday.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large manufacturing facility in Chilliwack, BC, working alongside approximately 50 other workers in a busy shop environment. The temperature can be hot in the summer and colder in the winter, so you should be comfortable working in variable conditions. The position follows a daytime schedule, Monday to Friday, on the first shift from 7:30 . to 4:00 ., with overtime available once you are trained and have demonstrated strong performance. You will regularly work with sheet metal, brake presses, shear presses, hand tools, power tools, riveting equipment, and basic welding tools. The dress code includes safety-toe work boots (STWB), long pants, and a T-shirt, suitable for a hands-on, industrial environment that prioritizes safety and practicality.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chilliwack, BC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
