About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to oversee civil construction projects across the Lower Mainland. This is an opportunity for a hands-on project leader to manage projects from pre-construction through closeout, with responsibility for schedule, budget, contracts, coordination and overall project delivery.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in civil construction and the ability to coordinate effectively with field teams, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and manage civil construction projects from start to finish
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets and work plans
- Coordinate construction activities with Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and clients
- Monitor project progress, productivity, costs and overall performance
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule and within budget
- Review civil drawings, specifications, scopes of work and contract documents
- Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment and subcontractors
- Prepare and review estimates, change orders, progress claims and cost reports
- Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies
- Manage project changes, deficiencies, delays and other issues
- Lead project meetings and provide updates on schedule, costs and project status
- Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams
- Review subcontractor performance and address issues as required
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and company requirements
- Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting
- Support tendering, estimating and budgeting activities when required
- Lead project closeout, including deficiencies, as-builts, warranties and final billing
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience within civil construction or a related field
- Experience managing civil projects involving earthworks, underground utilities, roads, site development and/or civil infrastructure
- Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, contracts, budgeting and cost control
- Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings, specifications and contract documents
- Strong leadership, communication, organization and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Knowledge of applicable construction safety standards and regulations
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to project sites
- Experience with project management and scheduling software is an asset
- Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related education is an asset
