Operations Officer - 58606

We are seeking a detail-oriented Operations Officer II to join our Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) and Global Sanctions team for a 6-month contract opportunity. In this 100% back-office role, you will perform AML (Anti-Money Laundering), Sanctions, and ABAC (Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption) research, complete detailed transaction trackers, and conduct risk investigations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.


Work Location: Hybrid – Toronto, ON (1 day in office on Mondays, 4 days work from home; initial 2–3 weeks require 5 days in-office for training)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, core business hours (37.5 hours per week)
Duration: 6-month contract (Possibility of extension or permanent conversion based on performance and business needs)
Pay Rate: $25.56 / hour

Responsibilities
Customer & Risk Management
Perform AML, Sanctions, and ABAC information gathering, investigations, and research activities following established bank regulations.
Review banking transactions to ensure adherence to regulatory thresholds and guidelines, escalating unusual activity or process gaps.
Complete detailed transaction trackers accurately and efficiently to meet monthly productivity and quality benchmarks.
Address research discrepancies and identify potential process improvement opportunities.
Operational Compliance & Governance
Prioritize individual daily workload to consistently meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Conduct due diligence to ensure all prepared documentation accurately reflects business intentions and regulatory compliance.
Support the maintenance and update of procedural documents for day-to-day operations.
Adhere strictly to institutional privacy guidelines, data security protocols, and the corporate Code of Conduct when handling confidential customer data.
Team & Collaboration
Actively participate in 30-minute weekly team meetings and share knowledge with internal peers.
Support a positive, diverse, and equitable team atmosphere while acting as an internal champion for operational excellence.

Qualifications
Must-Haves
Experience: 2+ years of professional/corporate experience handling confidential customer data or sensitive information.
Technical Skills: Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (ability to filter data, copy/paste accurately, and utilize basic macros).
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Core Competencies: Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, highly organized, adaptable, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Haves
Prior experience in a major banking or financial institution.
Knowledge or direct work experience in AML, Sanctions, or ABAC regulations.
ACAMS certification.
Bilingualism (English and French).
Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional work experience.
