About the Role:

The Safety Manager plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment across all company operations within the 'Other Services' industry sector in Canada. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety management systems that comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The Safety Manager leads accident investigations, identifies potential hazards, and designs effective safety programs to mitigate risks and prevent workplace injuries. They collaborate closely with site teams to conduct safety audits, provide training, and promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement. Ultimately, the Safety Manager ensures that all safety protocols are rigorously followed, contributing to the well-being of employees and the overall operational excellence of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Certification such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably within the construction or service industries.
  • Proven experience conducting accident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian occupational health and safety legislation and standards.
  • Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within the 'Other Services' industry sector or similar environments.
  • Additional certifications such as NEBOSH or OSHA safety certifications.
  • Familiarity with safety management software and data analysis tools.
  • Experience in developing and delivering customized safety training programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional safety teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety management systems tailored to company operations and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct thorough accident investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform regular site safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety policies.
  • Design and deliver safety training programs focused on occupational health, fall protection, and construction safety.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to develop and promote effective safety programs and initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement in safety outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and local safety regulations and standards.
  • Lead emergency response planning and preparedness activities to minimize risks during incidents.
  • Support managers and supervisors in the day-to-day application of occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Identify hazards, assess risks, and follow up with the appropriate managers on corrective actions.

The Safety Manager utilizes accident investigation skills daily to analyze incidents and prevent recurrence by implementing effective corrective measures. Occupational health expertise is applied to assess workplace hazards and promote employee well-being through targeted safety programs. Proficiency in safety management systems enables the manager to design, monitor, and improve safety protocols that align with regulatory requirements. Safety training skills are essential for educating employees and supervisors on best practices, ensuring compliance, and fostering a proactive safety culture. Additionally, conducting site safety audits and managing fall protection initiatives require strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate safety standards clearly across diverse teams.
