Senior.Net Software Engineer- 1759

We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior .Net Software Engineer for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in North York. In this role, you will join a premier Platform and Engineering team, specializing in analyzing, designing, and developing high-performance .NET REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.

As a senior software engineer, you will bridge the gap between service design, DevOps automation, and modern API platform integrations. Operating within a flexible work arrangement, you will lead full SDLC activities—writing clean .NET Core code, containerizing services using Docker and Kubernetes, building event-driven processes with Kafka, and ensuring robust security via OAuth2 protocols. This position demands a technical authority with strong problem-solving skills who can drive CI/CD improvements, collaborate across onshore/offshore teams, and deliver scalable enterprise software solutions.

Location: North York, ON (Open to remote within Canada, EST hours)

Assignment Type: Hybrid (1 day per month onsite for Ontario/Montreal candidates)

Contract Duration: 5-month contract (Possibility of extension)

Responsibilities
Lead and participate in the design, development, and deployment of .NET REST APIs and microservices utilizing Docker containers and Kubernetes orchestration.

Build event-driven services and microservices that publish and consume topics via Apache Kafka.

Ensure all service designs adhere to approved architecture, information security standards, and SDLC compliance guidelines.

Design and populate data access layers interfacing with database technologies such as MongoDB, Postgres, and MS SQL.

Leverage and enhance DevOps tools and automated pipelines for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).

Identify, debug, and resolve service defects, conducting root-cause analysis to support production system stability and performance.

Analyze, define, and document technical requirements for data workflows, logical processes, interface specs, and system controls.

Coordinate coding, testing, and implementation activities across onshore and offshore multi-site development teams.

Contribute to project planning, scoping, technical estimations, feasibility studies, and comprehensive system documentation.

Qualifications
Core Requirements & Technical Stack
Development Tenure: Minimum 5+ years of progressive software development experience encompassing the full application development life cycle (SDLC) and systems integration.

.NET & API Mastery: Strong hands-on experience building .NET Core APIs, RESTful web services, SOAP, JSON, OpenAPI, and Swagger specifications.

Event-Driven Architecture: Minimum 1+ years of direct experience working with Event-Driven Architecture (e.g., Kafka).

DevOps & Cloud Ecosystem: Solid working knowledge of DevOps processes, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern deployment pipelines.

Database & Web Technologies: Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server, relational databases, and web hosting technologies.

Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Experience & Assets
Advanced Integration Tools: Exposure to Kubernetes, Okta (OAuth2), Kafka, AWS cloud services, MongoDB, and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) architectures.

Domain Knowledge: Experience within Group Benefits products or related business domains.
