About the Company

Our client is a leading Canadian organization with a complex, high-volume customer communications and data environment. Their technology ecosystem brings together Microsoft Azure data services, orchestration frameworks, APIs, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) to deliver large-scale communications across Email, SMS, Push Notifications, and Physical Mail.

They are looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer who can take ownership of end-to-end testing across the entire ecosystem from data ingestion and transformation through to customer journey execution.

About the Role

This is not a traditional application testing role.

You will be testing across multiple layers of a complex data and marketing technology platform, including Azure data pipelines, orchestration workflows, APIs, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

You will lead the QA strategy, validate complex data transformations and business rules, ensure data moves accurately between systems, and certify customer communications from end to end.

The goal is simple: make sure the right customer receives the right communication, through the right channel, at the right time.

What You'll Be Doing

Test Strategy & Planning

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive QA strategy covering the data, orchestration, integration, and SFMC execution layers
• Define test scope, environments, entry/exit criteria, and toolsets
• Design and manage detailed test plans in Azure DevOps (ADO) with full traceability to business and technical requirements
• Ensure alignment of testing practices with enterprise quality standards

Data Layer Testing (Azure)

• Validate data ingestion pipelines from Azure Data Factory into staging and target systems
• Verify complex data transformation and segmentation logic, including customer journey eligibility, days past due calculations, and communication categorization and mapping
• Ensure accurate deduplication logic using Salesforce Contact ID and Billing Account
• Perform schema validation aligned with SFMC Data Extensions
• Conduct thorough data reconciliation and large-scale validation against business datasets

Orchestration Layer Testing

• Validate batch processing workflows and message flow via Azure Service Bus
• Test reprocessing and rerun logic for corrected or late-arriving data
• Verify integration with SFMC asynchronous APIs
• Ensure adherence to volume thresholds and execution limits

SFMC Execution Testing

• Validate trigger-based and scheduled journey executions in SFMC
• Verify entry and exit criteria across diverse customer segments
• Test multi-channel communications, including Email, SMS, Push Notifications, and Physical Mail
• Ensure accurate template rendering, personalization, and dynamic content behavior
• Validate data retention, archival, and truncation policies

End-to-End Integration Testing

• Execute comprehensive end-to-end (E2E) test cycles across all platform layers
• Ensure data lineage, traceability, and reconciliation using unique identifiers
• Validate API integrations, processing status, and downstream impacts
• Conduct regression testing as new journeys and features are introduced
• Enforce non-production safeguards, including masking of sensitive data and test controls

UAT Support & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with business stakeholders to prepare and validate test data, define expected outcomes and acceptance criteria, and triage and manage defects and issue resolution
• Ensure proper environment segregation across Dev, UAT, and Production

Change Management & Go-Live Readiness

• Ensure compliance with Change Advisory Board (CAB) processes
• Support solution design and architecture review gates
• Plan, execute, and validate rollback and recovery scenarios, including SFMC metadata and configuration rollback, and orchestration job recovery and restart

Post-Launch Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor production executions, delivery performance, and engagement metrics
• Investigate and resolve issues such as duplicate communications, partial or failed sends, and data inconsistencies
• Drive continuous improvement of QA processes, test assets, and automation opportunities

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Proven hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), including Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Data Extensions, and APIs
• Proven hands-on experience with Azure Data Services, particularly Azure Data Factory, Azure Service Bus, Azure Container Apps, and Azure Tables
• Strong proficiency in SQL and large-scale data validation of complex datasets
• Experience testing data pipelines, transformations, and system integrations
• Hands-on API testing experience, including RESTful services and asynchronous processing patterns
• Hands-on expertise with Azure DevOps (ADO) for test management and defect tracking
• Solid understanding of end-to-end system and integration testing practices
• Experience with data reconciliation, traceability, and validation across multiple systems
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with business, development, data, and architecture teams

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with ITIL and Change Advisory Board (CAB) / Change Management processes
• Experience with high-volume customer communication or engagement platforms
• Exposure to test automation for data, API, or integration testing
