Our public sector education client is seeking a Business Analyst to deliver business analysis and data warehousing initiatives using Waterfall methodologies, SQL, and cloud data platforms
Join a public sector education environment supporting data reporting and data warehouse initiatives with a strong focus on regulatory and data integrity requirements. This role supports Waterfall-based projects involving business analysis, systems analysis, data mapping, process flows, and compliance documentation. The position includes work across SQL databases, reporting environments, and cloud data platforms including Azure Synapse, Snowflake, and AWS Redshift.
Contract, Vancouver, 2 days Hybrid, Working Hours: 35 hours/week PST
Must Haves
- 5+ years as a Business Systems Analyst supporting data reporting and data warehouse initiatives within Waterfall projects
- Business analysis expertise including requirements documentation, gap analysis, process flows, data flows, and requirements traceability
- SQL, data profiling, data integrity, data warehousing, and reporting experience
- Azure Synapse, Snowflake, or AWS Redshift familiarity
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field
Nice to Have
- IIBA certification, business analysis training, or knowledge of BABOK
- Understanding of privacy and data protection regulations in BC
- SharePoint, MS Teams, Word, Excel, and MS Visio
Responsibilities
- Define the business analysis approach for Waterfall projects
- Document business, stakeholder, functional, non-functional, and transition requirements
- Translate business needs into requirements and technical specifications
- Conduct current state, future state, and gap analysis activities
- Document process flows, data flows, and data mapping artifacts
- Develop data quality management documentation to support data integrity and compliance requirements
- Interpret ministry and government compliance standards to support regulatory expectations
