About the Role

You bring a strong understanding of civil construction methods, cost structures, and tendering processes, along with a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

You are highly organized, adaptable, and capable of managing competing priorities in a deadline-driven estimating environment.

  • Solicit, prepare, and review supplier and subcontractor proposals to ensure completeness and competitiveness
  • Review design drawings, specifications, and RFP documents to fully understand project risks, execution strategy, schedule, and scope
  • Ensure all addendums are reviewed, incorporated, and filed appropriately
  • Work closely with the Estimating Manager to ensure proper and timely submission of tenders
  • Ensure safety standards and environmental requirements are incorporated into estimates, meeting or exceeding contract or regulatory expectations
  • Prepare project-specific plans when required, including traffic management, quality control, and site safety plans
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, owners, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Maintain working knowledge of HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Agtek, and other bidding/takeoff software, continuously improving skillset and knowledge
  • Review tender/procurement websites (BC Bid, Merx, BidCentral, etc.) daily for suitable projects and forward opportunities to the Estimating Manager
  • Record work hours and assign to the proper billing entity
  • Record and file estimating notes and correspondence for all tenders
  • Perform hand-off meetings on successful estimates and ensure all project start-up documentation is in place for the operations team
  • Support lessons learned processes and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Perform delegated tasks from the Estimating Manager as required

Experience Required

  • Minimum 7+ years of estimating or project management experience in civil construction
  • Experience preparing estimates for earthworks, utilities, pipelines, and road construction
  • Experience bidding work in remote and/or northern communities is considered an asset
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously
  • Strong experience with cost estimating, quantity take-offs, and bid preparation
  • AutoCAD or Agtek proficiency considered an asset
  • Experience working with subcontractors, suppliers, and contract documentation

  • Completion of corporate and site-specific orientations
  • Use of required PPE when attending job sites
