The Role GrizzlyTrek is seeking experienced Blasters to join our valued client's team in Saskatchewan.

This is a full-time position on a 10 days on and 4 days off rotation, working 12-hour days, with accommodations provided and a $70.00 per day living out allowance.

You will support blasting activities tied to heavy civil construction, highway development, rock excavation, quarrying and aggregate production.

Depending on the project and your experience, the work covers preparing blast areas, inspecting drilled patterns, loading and priming holes, connecting initiation systems, conducting blast-area clearance, firing, post-blast inspection and blasting documentation.

This is active field work around drills, heavy mobile equipment and civil construction crews, where safety, clear communication and following established blasting procedures are critical.

What You'll Do Review blast plans, drill patterns and field conditions before loading, and inspect holes for depth, condition and suitability Estimate and confirm explosive requirements in accordance with approved blast procedures Load and prime blast holes using ANFO, bulk emulsion or packaged product depending on the operation Install and connect electronic or non-electric initiation systems, and tie in blast patterns Establish blast exclusion zones and coordinate clearance with supervisors and other crews Conduct pre-blast safety checks and initiate blasts under approved authorization Complete post-blast inspections before personnel or equipment return to the area Identify and safely manage suspected misfires to established procedure Monitor ground conditions and identify potential blasting hazards Maintain accurate blast records, magazine documentation and explosives accountability Participate in daily hazard assessments, toolbox meetings and safety discussions What You Bring Previous professional blasting experience in civil, highway, quarry, aggregate or surface production work Sufficient blasting training, practical experience and demonstrated competency to receive written authorization to blast from the employer Ability to meet the applicable Saskatchewan requirements for blasting operations Strong working knowledge of explosives handling, storage, transportation and initiation systems Experience working around drills and heavy mobile equipment Ability to follow blast plans and written blasting procedures, with strong situational awareness Clear communication with field crews and supervisors Valid driver's licence and an acceptable driver's abstract where required Ability to pass project-specific pre-employment testing Ability to work 12-hour shifts outdoors in changing weather on a 10 and 4 rotation Preferred Qualifications Saskatchewan Mine Blaster certificate, or a blasting certificate, qualification or authorization held in another Canadian province Previous written authorization to conduct blasting operations from an employer Experience with electronic detonator systems, bulk explosives trucks or emulsion loading Background with blasting contractors, aggregate producers, highway contractors, quarry operators or heavy civil construction companies Explosives security documentation: Natural Resources Canada Explosives Regulatory Division approval letter, Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL), FAST card or NEXUS card Work Environment Remote and active heavy civil construction, highway, quarry and aggregate sites Outdoor field work in changing weather conditions 12-hour days on a 10 days on and 4 days off rotation, with accommodations provided All handling, use, transportation and storage of explosives follows site procedure and provincial and federal regulation Additional Information Candidates should not assume they are ineligible simply because their blasting experience or certification comes from another province.

We are reviewing experienced blasters from Saskatchewan as well as Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and other Canadian jurisdictions.

Applicants who were previously screened out of this position for not holding a Saskatchewan mine blaster certificate are encouraged to submit a new application.

When applying, please clearly identify your years of blasting experience, the type of blasting performed, the provinces you have worked in, all blasting certificates and qualifications held, previous employer blasting authorizations, the explosives and initiation systems you have worked with, any PAL or NRCan approval documentation, current safety certifications, your location and your availability to start.

Candidates must also be able to satisfy applicable federal explosives security requirements and comply with all client, site, provincial and federal requirements governing access to and handling of explosives.
