Financial Controller

Vortex Strategie & recrutement is actively seeking for a Financial Controller for its client, a highly reputable and rapidly growing provincial accounting firm based in Montreal. The firm has more than 200 employees, and the team continues to grow.

Working closely with the Managing Director and members of the Finance team, you will be responsible for the accounting operations of the group companies.

Your Role and Responsibilities

• Implement policies, internal controls, and business processes;

• Plan and coordinate the full accounting cycle for the group companies;

• Prepare consolidation entries and the group’s consolidated financial statements;

• Prepare and present financial results and key performance indicators;

• Analyze financial data and provide recommendations;

• Participate in the budget preparation process;

• Monitor the budget and analyze variances;

• Be responsible for accounting and tax services provided to the partners;

• Participate in decisions related to the financing of the group companies;

• Participate in the recruitment, training, and management of the Finance team;

• Evaluate existing accounting processes and recommend continuous improvements, as needed;

• Prepare ad hoc analyses, as requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting;

• CPA designation or currently working toward obtaining it, an asset;

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role;

• More than 3 years of experience within a professional services firm, an asset;

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, primarily expert-level Excel skills;

• Advanced knowledge of the payroll cycle;

• Experience in project accounting;

• Experience in taxation (T1, T2, T3, T5, T5013, etc.), an asset;

• Experience in investment accounting, an asset;

• Knowledge of Great Plains, Business Central, CaseWare/View, and Taxprep, an asset;

• Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality;

• Rigorous and detail-oriented;

• Hands-on and involved in deliverables, as needed;

• Recognized as a collaborative and key team player.
