BMO's Canadian Middle Market team partners with private companies and public sector organizations to provide strategic financial solutions that fuel business success. As a trusted advisor, we deliver a full suite of commercial banking capabilities including lending, treasury management, cash management, capital financing, and access to BMO's extensive North American platform.

Serving organizations with revenues typically ranging from $10 million to $40 million, our Relationship Managers are at the center of every client relationship, providing strategic guidance, industry insights, and tailored financial solutions that help businesses grow, navigate change, and achieve their long-term objectives.

What sets us apart is our deep commitment to our clients, local market expertise, and collaborative approach. We combine the strength of a leading North American financial institution with the responsiveness of a dedicated relationship team, creating meaningful impact through innovative solutions, digital capabilities, sustainability-focused financing, and holistic advice.

The Opportunity As a Senior Relationship Manager - Middle Market, you will play a pivotal role in driving business growth by developing and managing a portfolio of commercial clients. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated commercial banking professional who thrives on building trusted relationships, structuring complex transactions, and helping Canadian businesses succeed.

What You’ll Do

Structure and negotiate complex credit and treasury solutions that align with client objectives and generate profitable growth.

Partner closely with internal specialists across treasury, capital markets, cash management, payments, and investment solutions to deliver comprehensive client strategies.

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, proactively identifying challenges, resolving issues, and ensuring an exceptional client experience.

Analyze financial statements, industry trends, competitive positioning, and market dynamics to provide insightful recommendations and uncover growth opportunities.

Identify wallet share opportunities and develop strategic account plans that deepen relationships and enhance client value.

Lead credit discussions and manage the deal process from origination through approval, execution, and ongoing portfolio management.

Represent BMO within the business community, participating in industry events, associations, and networking opportunities to strengthen market presence and build brand awareness.

Collaborate with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams to develop innovative solutions that address evolving client needs.

Monitor portfolio performance and proactively manage risk while maintaining strong returns and compliance with the Bank's risk management framework.

Ensure all activities align with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and BMO's commitment to prudent risk management.

What You’ll Bring

7+ years of experience in Commercial Banking, Relationship Management, Account Management, or Portfolio Management with demonstrated success in business development and revenue growth.

Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong commercial credit and financial analysis capabilities, with experience structuring and negotiating complex transactions.

A proven ability to build influential relationships and become a trusted advisor to senior business leaders.

Deep understanding of commercial banking products and solutions, including lending, treasury management, and cash management.

Strong business development mindset with a track record of identifying opportunities and growing client portfolios.

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.

Ability to navigate complexity, exercise sound judgment, and deliver results in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment.
