Adecco is currently hiring a full-time experienced railway professional to join a leading transportation organization as a Track Geometry Supervisor / Test Car Operator. This unique role is responsible for identifying track geometry exceptions across a major North American rail network while operating and maintaining specialized track inspection technology.
This position is ideal for candidates with extensive track maintenance experience who enjoy travelling, working independently, and contributing to the safety and reliability of critical rail infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
Track Geometry Operations
  • Manage the daily operation of specialized track testing vehicles to ensure inspection and testing objectives are achieved
  • Operate and maintain track geometry technology systems and equipment
  • Analyze and interpret inspection data to identify track geometry exceptions and potential hazards
  • Ensure testing equipment is functioning effectively to maximize data quality and system performance
Planning & Coordination
  • Coordinate testing schedules with Geometry Supervisors and hi-rail inspection teams
  • Assist with scheduling test car operations across the railway network
  • Ensure inspection coverage aligns with operational and regulatory requirements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to track inspection technologies
Reporting & Analysis
  • Communicate inspection findings and track exceptions to field personnel and stakeholders
  • Prepare and submit daily reports, testing results, and operational data
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing activities, and findings
  • Support decision-making by providing timely and accurate information to internal teams
Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to all company, industry, and railway safety regulations
  • Support safe test vehicle operations in a variety of environmental conditions
  • Remain available to respond to critical operational incidents as required
  • Maintain compliance with railway operating rules and track inspection standards
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's Licence
  • Valid Passport
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in track maintenance with strong knowledge of track components
  • Track Inspection Guidelines (TIG) certification or equivalent
  • Ability to successfully complete required railway certifications and operating rules training, including:
    • Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR)
    • United States Operating Rules (USOR)
    • Qualification Standards for Operating Crews (QSOC)
    • On Track Safety (OTS)
    • Dangerous Goods
    • Test Car Operations and related systems
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience
  • 5+ years of experience with a Class 1 railway in Engineering or Track Operations
  • Strong knowledge of railroad operations
  • Bilingualism (English and French)
  • Experience with Image Map, Ensco, and other track inspection systems
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret technical inspection data and reports
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Strong understanding of track inspection and maintenance practices
  • Critical thinking and sound decision-making
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Commitment to safety and operational excellence
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Mu st be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
