Our Client is an organization that provides home services and energy solutions including a wide range of services such as heating, cooling, water solutions, electrical solutions and more, and they are in search of a Financial Analyst to join them for a 3 month contract assignment. The role is hybrid with 4 days in office located in Markham and 1 day work remote from home.
About the Role:
In this 3-month contract position, you will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial information through robust month-end accounting and analysis. You will manage key AR, AP, and general ledger activities, ensuring compliance with GAAP/IFRS and the integrity of financial data. Your work will support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing management with clear visibility into financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute end-to-end month-end close activities, including preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Perform detailed balance sheet and income statement reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage and review AR and AP transactions to ensure proper recording, cut-off, and classification.
- Conduct variance analysis against budget and forecasts, identifying drivers and preparing concise commentary.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of budgets and forecasts, including data gathering and model updates.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
Ensure financial records and reporting comply with IFRS and internal accounting policies. - Extract, analyze, and validate data from ERP/financial systems to support reporting and decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and improve financial processes and controls.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) completed or in progress is preferred.
- Proven experience in a Financial Analyst or similar accounting/finance role with hands-on month-end responsibilities.
- Strong background in AR, AP, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
- Demonstrated experience in variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting in a corporate environment.
- Solid understanding of IFRS and their application in day-to-day accounting.
- Proficiency with ERP/financial systems and advanced use of spreadsheets for analysis and reporting.
- Experience with SAP is a strong asset.
- Strong Excel Skills.
- Experience working in shared services group is preferred.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all financial work.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities within a month-end and reporting cycle.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
