Employment Type: Full-time (Long-term Contract) Department : Employment and Settlement Services Union: Included (CUPE Local 2497) Classification: Union (Level 3) Salary: $29.87 per hour (Level 3) File #: 26-ESS-06 (1 OPEN) Posting Date: July 28, 2026 Posting Close : August 12, 2026 Reason for vacancy: New Position Position Summary Reporting to the Manager, Employment and Settlement Services, the Employment Advisor is responsible for supporting clients throughout their employment journey, from intake assessment to job retention.

The role includes assisting with job search, matching, placements, and the implementation of customized service plans to help clients meet their career goals.

This position ensures clients are provided with the necessary resources and support to succeed and maintain employment while working to achieve program targets. The Employment Advisor is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with Dixon Hall's' Mission, Vision and Values, ensure safety, and demonstrate client service excellence. Duties and Responsibilities Client Support and Coaching Manage a caseload of Integrated Employment Services (IES) clients by creating an Employment Action Plan (EAP) and supporting them towards sustainable employment. Develop personalized service plans addressing job search, placement, incentives, and retention needs for each client. Conduct assessments utilizing appropriate tools to evaluate clients’ interests, skills, experience, and aptitudes to facilitate successful outcomes according to program targets. Perform efficiently to meet Key Performance Indicators established by management in alignment with Service System Managers’ (SSM) IES framework. Work closely with Social Assistance Case Managers to ensure Social Assistant client receives support for Life Stabilization needs. Guide clients through the exploration of education and training requirements related to career and employment goals. Provide information and resources to clients about Canadian workplace culture, including understanding employers' expectations and employees' rights and responsibilities. Provide case work support in both group and individual sessions. Make effective and strategic referrals to other services, programs, and support on a case-by-case basis. Effectively match clients with appropriate Employment-Related Financial Supports (training supports). Maintain contact with employed clients for 12 months, monitoring retention and offering ongoing support. Assist in preparing resumes and cover letters, completing job applications, and acquiring necessary documentation related to employment, such as social insurance cards and educational and training records. Provide support on interview preparation, and job search techniques. Organize group sessions for IES clients. Provide support and coordination for job and career fairs and other departmental events. Support the department with information sessions and various workshops. Job Matching & Placement Support clients with job applications and match them timely with relevant and available job opportunities. Refer clients to Job developers based on client stream (as per IES) and SOPs established by management. Organizational Responsibilities Work collaboratively with the Centre services delivery team, manager and other Dixon Hall staff and volunteers. Actively participate in department and agency meetings and events. Meet regularly with manager to discuss individual, team and employment services effectiveness. Administration and Reporting Adhere to agency and program policies and procedures. Backfill tasks in the Dixon Hall Employment Services Centre as needed. Obtain, report, and maintain data of key statistics including customer service data, workshop evaluations, etc. Provide monthly updates on client testimonials to highlight service impact. Required to meet program and funding quotas Actively participate in department and agency meetings and events. Collect documentation for evidence-based reporting on retention outcomes. Other duties as required Qualifications Post secondary degree or diploma in Employment/Career Counselling or related discipline 3-5 years experience in job coaching, employment assistance, human resources Demonstrated knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code and any other applicable acts and regulations and community resources including Employment Programs and Services, to meet the objectives of the Dixon Hall Employment Services Centre. Strong knowledge of community agencies and his/her relevant programs and services Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with assessment tools to determine client employability Demonstrated knowledge of employment and training resources and labour market information, and systemic barriers to employment. Experience working with unemployed, underemployed, homeless and marginally housed individuals, and knowledge of the challenges facing individuals with significant barriers to entering the labour market Computer literacy utilizing MS Office applications with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software applications Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in employment services core competencies including client service, communications, teamwork, initiative, accountability, and flexibility/adaptability Strong interpersonal, employment coaching, negotiation, mediation, interviewing and presentation skills Fluency in a second language, relevant to the communities of service an asset Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer. Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency. Dixon Hall may use Artificial Intelligence-assisted tools during the recruitment process to support efficiency and consistency.
