Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.Unposting Date:2026-08-06 11:59 PMAs Technical Producer, you will manage the human, technical, and material resources required for the Olympic Games host country, supporting English Services teams in Toronto and French Services teams in Montreal. You will act as a management representative during the preparation, survey, and execution phases of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.This position executes the technical production plans put forward by these leaders. As a crucial execution arm for the Technical Producers in charge of English and French Services in Canada, he/she assists in the design of technical workflows working with both Networks to deploy remote resources and equipment for Olympic production in the host country.Responsible for the development, organization, and assignment of corporation resources related to CBC/Radio-Canada’s production of the Olympics and Paralympics in the host country, including manpower planning, technical innovations, and partnerships.This role assists in the design of technical workflows while taking direction from the Technical Producer, Olympics, English Services and the Technical Producer, Olympics, French Services.Collaborates with Operations Management to roadmap long and short-range priorities for capital investments, strategies for upgrades to new technologies and digital workflows, and identifies opportunities.Responsible for overseeing and executing the technical management of remote operations, as well as other special projects deemed necessary. They provide technical expertise to production and operations teams in the planning and execution of remote assignments.Manage and interpret technical and operational costs; their impact on the accuracy, and timeliness of assigned events or projects.Works with outside vendors, external broadcasters, organizations, and suppliers to maximize technical resources and efficiencies.Responsibilities:Participates in technical surveys for upcoming events (travels to locations to determine technical requirements and obstacles), determines the feasibility of production requirements, the crew size, equipment needs, schedules and approximate costs of such remote originations.Executes complex tasks and processes that can have a material influence on the outcomes of assigned remote events, acting under the direction of the lead Technical Producers.Working with the lead Technical Producers, provides to Finances and Sports management cost estimates and projections related to remote technical elements, revenue projects and innovations.Accountable for costs that have material impact upon the accuracy and timeliness of assigned remote events, productions or projects.Assists in designing or commissioning the technical drawings to identify scope and impacts of technical projects on overall CBC/Radio Canada infrastructure.Provides direction and assistance to personnel throughout projects.Provides essential information (planning, compilation and distribution of pre-event paperwork, budgeting, supervision on site, post event reports, etc.).Implements and executes the objectives for the installation, operation, teardown, manpower and maintenance of the technical equipment and is technically responsible for the quality of the remote origination.Advises production personnel and the Operations Producers of technical costs and options as situations arise.Works closely with organizing bodies on the implementation of technical processes of each show/event.Maintains up to date knowledge of the latest progress in technical innovation.Participates in the approval process for the selection of vendors, uplink facilities, and fiber connections.Maintains communication flow with management on new technical developments or circumstances that may impact other shows.This role requires full-time on-site presence.Preferred Qualifications:College diploma (DEC) in audiovisual production, communications, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.Ten (10) years of experience in media production.Prior experience coordinating and executing large, high-profile projects.Has and applies an advanced knowledge of the technical equipment requirements of CBC and Radio-Canada’s remote operations functions and how they relate to production needs.Has in-depth awareness of developments in equipment technology and procedures.Has in-depth knowledge of organizational and logistical skills relating to show creation, including experience working with outside vendors and assisting with operational workflows.Has in-depth knowledge of IP connectivity and how it relates to technical equipment utilized on remote events.Working knowledge of electronics and facilities in broadcasting in the video, audio, RF, lighting, media management and maintenance areas.Strong working knowledge of high-definition (HD) workflows between remote operations and studio operations.Solid understanding of the production principles including: Video formats and standards, Video acquisition, Media Management, Transmission methods, Signal routing, and Audio and communication systems.Has a solid understanding of the vendor sourcing and equipment coordination aspects needed to carry out live broadcasts and remote operations.Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with technical teams and external suppliers.Ability to troubleshoot problems and provide efficient and effective solutions on site.Knowledge of health and safety standards and practices.Willingness to travel as required; could be in the host country a few weeks before and after the event.Relationships:CBC and SRC: Media Engineering, Digital, Media Production Services, Presentation, Finance.Physical:Unusual hours, travel, lifting of moderate loads as required.Language:Intermediate-level proficiency in English and French (both written and spoken).Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the nextstep will be asked to complete a background check.
