Actalent is a global leader in engineering services and human capital solutions. We are looking for a mechanical designer/drafter to join our rapidly-growing team in Canada.
This role would involve an initial project supporting a customer in the Edmonton area. The employee would report into an Actalent mechanical engineering manager, and despite being on-site with our client on a daily basis will still have opportunities for mentorship, guidance and professional growth on our engineering services team. We have an initial 6 month scope of work which may be extended depending on execution and performance. Our intent in hiring for this role is to have a long-term resource who can support us on various client projects, whether remotely or in western Canada.

As demand for high-performance data infrastructure continues to grow, they are expanding their engineering team and seeking a talented CREO Designer/Drafter to support the development of innovative mechanical and manufacturing designs.

Position Summary
The CREO Designer/Drafter will be responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining detailed engineering drawings and 3D models for custom mechanical equipment and modular systems. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, manufacturing teams, and project stakeholders to ensure design accuracy, quality, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using PTC Creo
- Produce detailed manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly drawings
- Support engineering teams with design changes, updates, and documentation control
- Ensure drawings comply with company standards, specifications, and industry requirements
- Participate in design reviews and provide drafting support throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, and drawing revisions
- Coordinate with manufacturing and operations teams to support production requirements
- Travel between local customer and manufacturing sites as required
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to design processes and documentation
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related discipline
- 3 to 7 years of drafting and design experience
- Hands-on experience using PTC Creo in a professional environment
- Strong understanding of mechanical drafting principles, GD&T, and manufacturing drawings
- Experience creating detailed fabrication and assembly documentation
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative engineering team
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel between two local sites in the Edmonton area (approximately 20 minutes apart)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in manufacturing, industrial equipment, HVAC, cooling systems, modular construction, or related industries
- Familiarity with sheet metal, welded assemblies, and mechanical equipment design
- Exposure to ERP/PDM systems and engineering document control processes
