Who We Are

Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.

Career Education supports SFU students in building career readiness, purpose, and connections between academic study and future opportunities. The team provides career education, employer engagement, recruitment programming, labour market insight, and resources that help students navigate employment pathways and articulate their skills and experiences. Working collaboratively with faculties, Student Services, Alumni Relations and Advancement, employers, and community partners, the team contributes to SFU's goals for student success, belonging, and meaningful impact. The team culture is collaborative, student-centred, partnership-oriented, evidence-informed, and responsive to emerging student and employer needs.

About the Role

The Career Education Manager, Employer and Industry Relations, leads employer engagement approaches that connect SFU students with employers, alumni, and industry partners through recruitment initiatives, career education programming, and employer-led activities. The role strengthens student career readiness by integrating labour market knowledge, employer perspectives, and career development theory into programming, advising, resources, and curricular or co-curricular learning experiences. This position will help expand and sustain local, national, and international employer relationships; support career fairs, networking events, industry panels, and job posting platform activity; and use student, employer, and recruitment data to improve access to opportunities. The role also works closely with faculties and campus partners to embed career-connected learning across disciplines and strengthen alignment between academic study, student learning, and future career pathways.

The ideal candidate combines strong employer relations expertise with a foundation in career development and student learning. They are skilled at building partnerships with employers while also supporting students through career exploration, job search, networking, and recruitment processes. They bring strong facilitation, advising, communication, and project-management skills, and are comfortable delivering career education in both individual and group settings. The successful candidate is collaborative, equity-minded, and able to translate employer and labour market insight into meaningful learning experiences that improve student career readiness and access to opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of career development theory, frameworks, and evidence-based practices related to student job search and career readiness.
  • Experience designing and delivering programs that support student career development and employment outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing external partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of employer engagement practices, recruitment trends, and labour market dynamics.
  • Experience providing career education, coaching, advising, or facilitation to students or emerging professionals.
