This innovative facility integrates data and technology into patient assessment, care delivery, and communication, while providing specialized, person-centred support for individuals who no longer require hospital-level treatment but need additional care to safely return home or transition back into their community. Reporting to Culinary Manager, the Part-time Café Worker plays a vital role in delivering friendly, respectful, and efficient service in a fast-paced hospital setting. This role supports daily café operations while contributing to a calm, supportive atmosphere for patients, visitors, and staff during often stressful moments.

About the Opportunity

• Greet customers and provide courteous, compassionate, and professional service
• Take and accurately enter food and beverage orders into the POS system
• Prepare and serve food and drinks in accordance with food safety standards
• Operate café equipment such as coffee machines, ovens, and POS systems
• Stock and display food and beverage items in an organized and attractive manner
• Follow First-In-First-Out (FIFO) food rotation practices and monitor food temperatures
• Process cash, debit, and credit transactions accurately and balance cash drawers
• Maintain clean and sanitized food preparation, service, and dining areas
• Follow hospital infection prevention and control, health, and safety policies
• Work collaboratively with team members, volunteers, and healthcare partners
• Demonstrate sensitivity to patient privacy and the hospital environment
• Additional related duties as required

About You

In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability, you bring:

• High School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent
• Food Safety Certification
• Previous experience in food service, retail, or hospitality
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong teamwork and reliability in a fast-paced environment
• Basic math and cash-handling skills
• Comfort working in a healthcare environment with diverse populations
• Experience working in a healthcare or non-profit environment considered an asset
• Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check, and where applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to appointment
