Job Title: Appian Technical Lead Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid Minimum 3 days onsite) Fulltime FTE - Permanent Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Appian Technical Lead to lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade Appian solutions supporting digital transformation and business process automation initiatives. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, define architecture standards, and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing low-code applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of enterprise Appian applications and workflow solutions.
  • Define Appian architecture standards, development guidelines, and best practices.
  • Design and implement scalable workflow automation and case management solutions.
  • Develop integrations between Appian and enterprise systems using REST/SOAP APIs, web services, databases, and ECM platforms.
  • Ensure application security, scalability, performance optimization, and compliance with enterprise standards.
  • Establish CI/CD processes, DevOps practices, and deployment strategies for Appian applications.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and mentor development teams.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, business stakeholders, product owners, and QA teams.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and optimize application performance.
  • Drive reusable component development and promote Appian platform best practices.
  • Participate in solution planning, technical estimation, and release management.
Required Skills
  • 7+ years of experience in application development and solution architecture.
  • Strong expertise in Appian design, development, and solution architecture.
  • Experience with workflow automation, business process management (BPM), and case management.
  • Hands-on experience integrating Appian with REST/SOAP APIs, web services, and relational databases.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and database design.
  • Experience with application security, scalability, and performance tuning.
  • Experience implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Appian Senior Developer, Lead Developer, or Architect certification.
  • Experience integrating Appian with Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platforms such as OnBase.
  • Experience in financial services or insurance environments.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure cloud services.
  • Knowledge of microservices and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale Appian implementation projects.
