Description

Reporting directly to the Director Mission Fulfilment and Quality Assurance (MFQA) the Learning Strategist Academic Integrity supports various student populations and is responsible for the development implementation and assessment of a comprehensive and purposeful academic Integrity program that supports the promotion enforcement and education of students around academic Integrity as it relates to the varied needs of learns at Thompson Rivers University (TRU). This position will enhance student success and retention.

The Learning Strategist Academic Integrity will work collaboratively across the university service units to both lead and support students staff and volunteers. The Learning Strategist will work independently to complete assigned duties. Special project work as assigned by the Director MFQA is an important part of the position and the incumbent is accountable to coordinate projects to completion. Workloads may fluctuate and alter to meet the demands and needs of the varied learners being served.


MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop coordinate implement and evaluate strategies for increasing awareness of academic integrity for the institution that align with TRUs Strategic Plan.
  2. Liaise with institutional stakeholders (TRU World Open Learning Library Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching etc.) to ensure access to information and cohesive service delivery related to Academic integrity.
  3. Develop and coordinate educational tools and strategies to support faculty in education reporting and teaching of academic integrity including web and print materials presentations and workshops.
  4. Contribute to the evaluation and assessment of academic integrity initiatives by collecting data and analyzing data.
  5. Coordinates prepares and maintains documentation records and reports including related budget and expense requirements.
  6. Support the recruitment training and supervision of student staff (co-op and work study) student volunteers and student peer mentors.
  7. Manage confidential information for students and abide by TRU privacy rules set out in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
  8. Recommend and collaborate to develop policy and processes with respect to student success and development around academic integrity.
  9. Participates in relevant committee and working groups to initiate and build student knowledge of academic integrity and success.

Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree in education or related field


EXPERIENCE:

  • Three years experience working with students; in the post-secondary context including:
    • Experience with program development and program management.


SKILLS KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB

  • Knowledge of the field of student development and related literature and research an asset.
  • Knowledge of the field of academic Integrity and related literature and research an asset.
  • Ability to plan ahead anticipate problems and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally in writing and through presentations.
  • Ability to communicate well in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies.
  • Ability to lead others and to function as an effective team member.
  • Ability to work within and assist others in navigating through complex systems.
  • Ability to deal with a diversity of people in a calm courteous and effective manner.
  • Ability to organize events lead activities and coordinate and support programs.
  • Ability to establish priorities organize schedule and report out in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks and tasks of others.
  • Ability to design and deliver training and developmental or skill building workshops.
  • Advanced computer knowledge including word processing and familiarity with Word PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular contact with students with a variety of learning needs
  • General office conditions; sitting at a desk or computer for extended periods of time
