If you value teamwork, empowerment in your career, and are eager to champion innovative and sustainable solutions to our clients, this opportunity just may be for you!Job DescriptionFluor’s Mining and Metals Business line provides these engineering services to the global mining industry with a focus on the engineering, procurement, and construction of processing and infrastructure facilities associated with the recovery of metals and minerals.This position is responsible for providing all aspects of mineral processing and extractive metallurgy engineering and technical support for a variety of metallurgical systems at all stages of a mine’s project development cycle.Your day-to- day activities and responsibilities include:Performing a broad range of process engineering technology assignments specific to the mining industry;Planning and conducting work in evaluation, selection, and application of standard process engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria;Periodically reviewing work of others to assure overall quality of process designs;Contacting and consulting with other engineering disciplines within the Company in addition to process engineers and supervisors;Understanding and following the effort-hours budget and process schedule;Supporting execution of the Quality Plan to ensure that work product meets defined requirement and standards, as needed;Applying mathematical calculations and basic process engineering principals to solve defined problems and size and select process equipment for comminution and beneficiation applications.Other duties as assigned, including the supervision of junior Process Engineers.Basic Job RequirementsAccredited four (4) year degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or Chemical Engineering;Minimum ten (10) years of work-related experience, three (3) to five (5) years of which must have been in an operating environment within the mining industry;Professional Engineering designation with EGBC, if not position would be classified as a Specialist and not EngineerAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors;Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner;Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals;Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, with demonstrated competent report writing skills.Other Job RequirementsPreferred QualificationsJob-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job, including;Interpretation of metallurgical test workAbility to read, interpret and generate Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs and other engineering documentation such as Process Design Criteria, Data SheetsExperience with process simulation software for the development of Heat and Material BalancesKnowledge of process equipment commonly used in mineral processing or hydrometallurgical facilities.Experience the design and construction of mineral processing facilities for the recovery of copper, nickel, gold, or other base and precious metalsAbility to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines; andFamiliarity with the industry requirements for the development of concept, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.Fluor Canada rewards hard work, knowledge, and commitment.
