Enterprise / Application Architect (hybrid in St John's, Newfoundland)

6 month hybrid contract (must be able to work 3 days a week in St John's, Newfoundland)

Overview

We are seeking a versatile and experienced Enterprise Architect to support a broad range of technology initiatives across the organization. This role is ideal for a well-rounded professional with experience spanning enterprise architecture, application architecture, technical architecture, infrastructure, integrations, cloud technologies, security, and solution design.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to business and technology teams, providing architectural leadership and guidance across multiple projects and operational initiatives. This is a hands-on strategic role requiring someone who can adapt to varying priorities and work across several technology domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide architectural leadership across enterprise, application, infrastructure, and technology initiatives.
• Develop and maintain solution architectures that align with business objectives and technology standards.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, project teams, vendors, and technical resources to define technology solutions.
• Evaluate current-state architectures and recommend improvements, modernization opportunities, and future-state roadmaps.
• Support system integration efforts, data flows, cloud adoption, security requirements, and infrastructure design.
• Review and validate architecture designs, technical specifications, and implementation approaches.
• Identify risks, dependencies, and architectural impacts across projects and operational environments.
• Contribute to governance processes, architecture reviews, standards development, and best practices.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to project teams and technical resources.
• Participate in strategic planning, technology assessments, procurement activities, and vendor evaluations.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in information technology, including significant experience in architecture-related roles.
• Experience working as an Enterprise Architect, Solution Architect, Application Architect, Technical Architect, or similar role.
• Broad knowledge of application architecture, infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms, security, integrations, databases, and enterprise systems.
• Experience designing and documenting complex technology solutions.
• Strong understanding of architecture frameworks, methodologies, and governance practices.
• Experience working with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technology solutions.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical implementation considerations.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience within the public sector or other highly regulated environments.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or equivalent).
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and enterprise security architectures.
• Experience with enterprise integrations, API strategies, and data architectures.
• TOGAF, Azure, AWS, CISSP, or other relevant architecture certifications.
• Experience supporting digital transformation and modernization initiatives.
