Department Sales Manager

Lead our flagship retail location ensuring brand standards, customer experience, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all promo and pricing standards.
  • Build and oversee product flow, merchandising plans and overall presentation standards.
  • Protect company assets.
  • Uphold all company and business compliance expectations.
  • Partner with local MHA’s as a community ambassador.
  • Manage capacity and change management initiatives.

Customer Service

  • Champion and deliver Pro Hockey Life’s customer experience model across the store team.
  • Ensure floor plan provides an accessible, shoppable experience.
  • Execute and maintain PHL pricing and promotion strategies.
  • Deliver staff onboarding to company expectations.
  • Act as an ambassador for Canadian Tire’s Triangle Rewards Program.
  • Provide continuous feedback and coaching using Store Force Reporting, daily huddles, and formal performance evaluations.

Store Operations

  • Execute visual compliance, maintenance, and pricing standards (Operational Readiness Review and Dynamic Merchandising Programs).
  • Meet all store operating initiatives and directives according to required timelines.
  • Plan and follow up on weekly price changes and department POP, ensuring 100% system pricing and weekly price sweeps.
  • Maintain efficient product flow from warehouse to sales floor.
  • Complete weekly price sweeps and pricing audits to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate LP, cash, and store audit policies, and OH&S procedures.

Training

  • Coach and develop store staff through expectations, communication, feedback, and ongoing support.
  • Ensure execution of weekly plans for the store.
  • Create development plans and conduct annual appraisals for part‑time staff, coaching to improve performance gaps.
  • Communicate clearly; lead effective huddles/meetings/coaching sessions while keeping the team well informed.
  • Ensure staff understand department maintenance standards and general merchandising.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly.

Leadership

  • Motivate team performance through recognition programs, contests, customer compliments, and compensation.
  • Maintain performance management expectations, including progressive discipline.
  • Promote a positive, motivating work environment.
  • Provide mentorship, encouraging continuous growth.
  • Support community engagement initiatives.

  • Previous retail management experience (asset).

Our typical hiring range is between $42,500 and $56,250. Salary decisions also depend on experience, skills, store size, market location, and industry benchmarks.
