JOB DESCRIPTION

The Team Lead, Electrical Engineering will be responsible for leading a team of engineers focused on the design, development, and implementation of the electrical systems and related subsystems across the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) and River Class Destroyer (RCD) Projects at Irving Shipbuilding Inc. This role requires strong technical expertise in electrical systems and leadership skills to ensure successful delivery of solutions that meets program requirements and timelines. #LI-MJ1

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and supervise staff and embedded contractors in the Electrical Team with a focus on coordination of team activities and the mentoring of junior team members;
  • Facilitate and oversee subcontractor development of design deliverables and technical purchase specifications relating to the electrical systems;
  • Participate in Platform Delivery Teams (PDT) in support of design development;
  • Lead the review of electrical systems content in technical design reviews;
  • Participate in negotiations with equipment and material vendors;
  • Assist in developing and implementing test plans and procedures and requirements verification tracking;
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Develop and foster client and subcontractor(s) relationships;
  • Drive design and process improvements related to vessel producibility, shipyard safety, and production performance;
  • Support change management relating to the Electrical Team areas of responsibility
  • Address risk items relating to the Electrical Team areas of responsibility, including identification and risk mitigation planning

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or eligibility
  • Experience developing and implementing test plans and procedures for electrical systems;
  • 7+ years of design and integration experience with complex electrical systems;
  • 2+ years leading or managing technical teams including team member task work assignments
  • 2+ years managing projects and/or subcontractors;
  • Experience in aspects of marine electrical systems, including shipboard electrical control systems, and the integration of platform systems into a control system.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
