Director of Finance – Full-time Permanent

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Finance oversees all accounting and financial functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll support, banking, reconciliations, and monthly procedures in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) applicable to not‑for‑profit organizations in Canada. This role also supports PRDC’s contractual operations and provides strategic financial oversight in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial planning and analysis, assessing company performance, trends, and risks to support informed decision‑making.
  • Monitor and manage the organization’s overall financial position, including cash flow, to maintain liquidity and financial stability.
  • Oversight of the PRDC’s Human Resource department and functions.
  • Support the timely and accurate processing of employee compensation transactions and reconciliation (e.g., payroll, benefits and pension).
  • Prepare, process, and review accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Management and oversight of invoices and related documentation for services delivered under client and contractor agreements.
  • Weekly/monthly review of banking activities and reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure audit readiness.
  • Provide financial input during contract reviews to align budgets and cash flow with contractual obligations.
  • Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports to senior leadership, including analysis and recommendations.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with contracts and large transactions.
  • Support year‑end processes including audits, financial statement preparation, and regulatory reporting.
  • Support PRDC‑led community events and initiatives as required.

Education and Experience

  • Post‑secondary Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with a focus in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with proficiency in automated accounting systems and current accounting practices.
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, preferably Sage, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a team.
  • Proficient in accounting principles, financial analysis, and cash flow management.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective at prioritizing competing deadlines in a fast‑paced, contract‑driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of presenting financial information clearly to non‑financial stakeholders.

Compensation

  • Salary dependent on education and experience ($77,787.04 – $101,494.45)
  • PRDC offers a competitive and comprehensive employee benefits and pension program.
