Senior Program Manager - Retail

Our client, is seeking an elite, senior-level Project/Program Manager (PM IV) to lead high-visibility, business-owned technology initiatives. This is a true consultant-profile role requiring a hands-on, proactive delivery expert capable of managing large-scale, multi-million-dollar development and systems integration projects from inception to closeout.

Operating within a mature Enterprise PMO (EPMO) that blends IT delivery with strategic business operations, the successful candidate will manage projects that cross multiple business units and touch every part of the organization. This position requires an adaptable leader who can manage demanding executive stakeholders, navigate complex corporate environments, and ensure project success under tight governance.

Position Type: Senior Contract Engagement

Work Structure: Managing a globally matrixed delivery team with key business stakeholders distributed across Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec.

Core Mandate: Complete end-to-end project ownership, turning high-risk or stalled initiatives into successful, on-schedule deliveries.

Responsibilities
End-to-End Project Execution: Own the full project life cycle—initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing—adhering strictly to enterprise PMO governance and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes.

Project Recovery & Turnaround: Actively diagnose, remediate, and steer off-track or high-risk initiatives out of the red and back into the green.

Strategic Business Alignment: Oversee complex software development and system integration projects that are functionally owned by the Business but delivered by IT, ensuring technical solutions match operational needs.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Proactively manage demanding stakeholders and navigate corporate organizational structures with highly polished communication and soft skills.

Vendor & Client Governance: Direct and evaluate third-party vendor performance, manage contracts, review project alternatives, and align multi-vendor delivery pipelines.

Artifact & Status Management: Establish project charters, construct precise project plans, perform rigorous risk assessments, and deliver high-impact presentations and performance reports to executive steering committees.

Balanced Change Leadership: Act as a proactive driver for organizational change, effectively pushing projects forward without railroading cross-functional teams.



Qualifications
Experience: 8+ years of definitive Project Management experience, successfully delivering large, national-scale enterprise projects with budgets exceeding $1M+.

Mandatory Certification: Active, verified PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is strictly required.

Industry Pedigree: Proven experience within a major Retail or E-commerce environment (experience within Merchandising, Supply Chain, or Omnichannel systems is highly valued).

Technical & Business Hybridity: A strong blend of technical PM capabilities (rigorous PMBOK compliance, dependency mapping, hands-on plan management) and business acumen (expectation management, customer-centric delivery).

Large-Scale System Integration: Demonstrated history of managing large delivery teams through complex software development and application integration lifecycles.

Soft Skills & Executive Polish: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a proven track record of managing executive expectations and driving consensus across multiple business units.
