Department: Raw MaterialsReports to: Manager, Raw Materials Supply Planning (Temp)Location: North Vancouver, BC
Your opportunity at Arc’teryx:
As a Raw Materials Supply Planner 2, you will play a key role in the supply planning of raw materials for the production of finished goods. Your responsibilities will encompass negotiating and strategizing supplier capacity and material prices, forecasting for production, and generating and monitoring KPI reports. Working with a portfolio of raw materials manufacturers, you will ensure their production forecasts align optimally with our demand and finished goods supplier base. Internally, collaboration with Raw Materials Sourcing, Development, Quality, Finished Goods Supply Planning, and Global Planning teams will be essential to meet supply and delivery targets. In addition, you will also play a key project and advisory role in strategic cross-functional projects, not limited to Sales & Operations Planning processes, new product commercialization and the development of new planning tools and systems.
Please note, this is a temporary role with a duration of twelve (12) months. This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
Meet your future team:
We are a highly dynamic and collaborative team of Raw Materials Supply Planners, each responsible for managing a portfolio of overseas manufacturers. The team collaborates closely on departmental deadlines and engages in process-improvement projects. We align our individual portfolio work to present as a cohesive team in planning, monitoring key performance indicators, and resolving supply issues. Each Raw Materials Supply Planner maintains excellent knowledge of the unique manufacturing constraints of their portfolio. They act as subject-matter experts in their material categories, providing valuable insights to both cross-functional teams and management.

If you were in the Raw Materials Supply Planner 2 role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

    • Staying abreast with economic and political events insofar they affect your manufacturer portfolio and developing an excellent understanding of the supply chain for the raw materials you plan
    • Monitoring the raw material development process to determine if commercialization timelines can be met
    • Managing relationships with manufacturers with a sense of urgency in a professional and courteous manner. Ensuring optimal supplier performance (growth, on-time delivery, communication, and flexibility) with a focus on long-term and mutually beneficial partnerships
    • Working with the Raw Material Sourcing team to negotiate, set and ensure compliance on purchasing terms and pricing conditions based on forecast volume and market changes
    • Directing a rolling raw material forecast schedule and any exceptional cross-functional decisions and/or commitments related to supplier MOQ, MCQ, and Lead Times
    • Monitoring Supplier Order Confirmation Performance, Supplier Delivery Performance, and Supplier Lead Time Performance. Analyzing the root cause of issues and recommending improvements
    • Accounting for excess raw materials at season-end, providing accurate financial projections and settling invoices with due diligence
    • Conducting quarterly to seasonal supplier performance reviews, providing feedback to suppliers and Sourcing teams for improvement
    • Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain
    • Actively identifying opportunities to improve and evolve RM Supply Planning team operations, processes and reporting
    • Supporting the RM Supply Planning team in maintaining supply chain best practices, data hygiene and executing standard operating procedures training
    • Contributing to cross-functional projects, in an advisory and project/product management capacity, such as Sales & Operations planning processes, new product commercialization and the development of new planning tools and systems

Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:

    • Collaborating with the Raw Material Sourcing team to develop long-term raw material category capacity plans at new and existing overseas contract manufacturers
    • Engaging in the monthly Sales and Operations Planning process to report portfolio key performance indicators and to communicate supply opportunities or risks
    • Contributing to the optimization of the GTM (Go To Market) process, working closely with cross-functional partners to support improvement and deadline discipline
    • Seeking process efficiencies, cost savings and sustainability best practices for the brand, in collaboration with internal teams and external partners
    • Developing new enterprise-wide planning tools and systems, by identifying minimum system requirements, evaluating options and training RM Supply Planning team members in its use
