This is truly an excellent opportunity to join an existing legal team as a Senior Legal Counsel in Montreal or Toronto and report directly to the General Counsel at this well established and thriving company with global reach. This Senior Legal Counsel will support the business and its international subsidiaries in a variety of legal matters and strategic objectives. This Lawyer should have approximately 5-10 years of pertinent Corporate and Commercial law experience and will advise the various business units on corporate, commercial, contract law, information technology and additional legal needs re: its worldwide operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and draft a variety of commercial agreements, such as service, software licensing, confidentiality and employment contracts among others;
  • Work with external counsel globally re: legal matters;
  • Partner with and advise portfolio leaders re: post closing matters, such as integrations, change implementation re: corporate matters, contractual requirements and assist HR;
  • Advise the legal department re: strategic projects and corporate governance initiatives; and
  • Additional legal tasks as assigned by the General Counsel.

Requirements:

  • A License to practice law in Quebec or Ontario and be a member in good standing in their respective jurisdiction;
  • Approximately 5-10 years of commercial and corporate transactional expertise acquired within an In House legal department or a law firm;
  • Ability to work across all organizational levels and connect effectively with executives and the operational teams;
  • Strong commercial and corporate law experience, including drafting and reviewing a variety of commercial agreements.
  • Experience with technology and m & a matters is considered an asset;
  • Strong business acumen and a pragmatic approach;
  • Ability to work autonomously and also effectively in a team environment;
  • Capable of working in a fast paced milieu and have the ability to manage competing priorities; and
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
