ABOUT MAPLE
Founded in 2015, Maple is a fast-growing health tech company with a vision to power the future of healthcare by building a connected and superior experience for patients, doctors, nurse practitioners and other types of health providers.
We offer virtual care services across multiple distribution channels, including Direct-to-Consumer ("B2C"), Employers and Private Insurers ("B2B") and Public Sector Institutions ("B2I"). With a growing network of 2,000+ healthcare providers and nearly 7 million Canadians with access to our services, Maple is one of Canada’s fastest-growing virtual care companies. We have established an entrepreneurial culture centered around our purpose to support people’s health and well-being and to strengthen the healthcare system. We attribute our success to our team, who has helped us achieve numerous noteworthy awards including: LinkedIn's Top 10 Startups, Deloitte Canada’s Technology Fast 50, Globe & Mail's Top Growing Companies in Canada, North America’s Inspiring Workplaces, and Glory Professional’s The Power 50: Canada’s Most Impactful Companies.
THE ROLE
We’re hiring Registered Nurse (RN) Contractors to support Maple’s labs and referrals operations. This is an independent contractor role that plays a critical part in ensuring patients receive timely follow-up and appropriate guidance based on lab results and specialist referrals issued through the Maple platform.
You’ll work remotely and contribute on an as-needed basis, supporting periods of higher volume and ensuring continuity across our clinical operations. Contractors are scheduled based on operational demand and are only expected to bill for time worked.
This role is ideal for an experienced RN who is confident working independently, comfortable with technology, and motivated by contributing to high-quality virtual care delivery.

YOUR IMPACT

    • Clinically review lab results issued by Maple providers and assign appropriate follow-up recommendations for patients.
    • Identify abnormal or critical results and determine urgency of follow-up care.
    • Contact patients directly for critical results that require immediate emergency care.
    • Escalate complex cases to physicians as appropriate.
    • Support specialist referrals based on provider directives, including preparing referral documentation and required forms.
    • Assign referrals to appropriate specialist clinics based on patient location, clinical need, and specialty.
    • Redirect referrals when clinics are unresponsive or referrals are declined.
    • Review specialist consult reports and determine whether patient follow-up is required.
    • Depending on scheduling and operational needs, you may support additional workstreams outside of this list.

    • CANDIDATE PROFILE
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).
    • Current registration and good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial nursing college.
    • No active malpractice investigations; professional liability coverage in place.
    • Experience in a patient-facing clinical setting (primary care, medical-surgical, or emergency preferred).
    • Strong clinical judgment and confidence in reviewing lab results and specialist documentation.
    • Comfortable working independently in a remote, technology-enabled environment.
    • Proficient in using Mac devices and learning new digital tools quickly.
    • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Strong understanding of patient privacy and confidentiality requirements.

    • OTHER
    • Job type: Independent Contractor
    • Location: Fully remote
    • Start date: February 2026
    • Hourly Rate: $35 hourly
    • Hours/Commitment: This is an independent contractor role with variable hours based on operational demand. Most RN contractors typically support 10–20 hours per week on average, depending on volume, though there is no minimum hour requirement.

    • Please note that any offer may be subject to verification of employment and education background checks, including a criminal record check.
      USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
At Maple, we do not currently use Artificial Intelligence (AI) or automated tools to screen, assess, or select candidates. Every application is thoughtfully reviewed by our Talent Acquisition team or hiring managers.
