An understanding of the BC Curriculum, effective teaching and learning practices, and a commitment to professional development are essential.Nature of Assignment:The District Educational Technology Facilitator will work with a team of district staff and the IT Department to support teachers with meaningful integration of educational technology to enhance learning in K-12 classrooms. A central focus of the role includes assisting teachers in using technology effectively in the areas of technological innovative practices, personalized learning, project and inquiry-based learning, assessment and communicating student learning. This includes using all features of MyEducation BC, Microsoft Office Applications.Scope of the Position:Comprehensive knowledge of the BC curriculum and thorough experience with curriculum design and planning, Universal Design for Learning,differentiating Instruction, assessment, evaluation and communicating student learningThorough knowledge of the ministry and district's reporting policy and guidelinesAbility to collaboratively plan and co-teach using a variety of research-based teaching strategies including inquiry, project-based learning and technologies to enhance personalized learningDemonstrated experience in designing and facilitating professional learning opportunities for teachers including district professional development or school-based initiatives as determined by the needs of teachers and administratorsAbility to provide guidance to teachers regarding online resources to support curriculum and instructionAbility to guide teacher to incorporate the First Peoples Principles and Core Competencies into all aspect of the curriculumAbility to skillfully incorporate a variety of Microsoft 365 tools to support teaching and learning experiences for staff, students and parents Clear understanding of Social Emotional Learning and the foundational importance of wellness to intellectual development, human and social development, and career development of students Demonstrated ability in providing classroom support and mentorship to educators (co-teaching, coaching)Thorough knowledge of the ministry and district's reporting policy and guidelinesAbility to work effectively and collaboratively on a team of District Curriculum Facilitators Clear understanding of FOIPPA as it relates to technology usageAbility to develop Digital Literacy curriculum and consent process and protocols for the use of online toolsThe ability to create training documents and videos for the district website and Sharepoint sites to support staff, student and parent technology trainingAbility to work effectively and collaboratively on a team of district Curriculum Facilitators and the It DepartmentAbility to provide professional development sessions on a variety of educational technology topicsRequired Qualifications Possession of a BC Teaching CertificateMembership in the BC Teacher Regulation BranchExtensive and successful teaching experience in a variety of classroom settingsExperience in teaching Technology Education in the K-12 settingPost-graduate coursework in Educational Technology is an assetDemonstrated successful experience in embedding the use of technology in the classroom to support and enhance student learning and engagementKnowledge and understanding of the application of relevant computer technologies for teaching and learningAbility to demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to the demands of technology for educational enhancementSuperior listening and oral and written communication skillsSuperior work ethic and social emotional competencies, excellent reflective judgement and commitment to building effective learning communitiesDemonstrated experience and knowledge in utilizing Ministry of Education and school district policies and guidelinesDemonstrated experience in the development and delivery of professional development activitiesDemonstrated leadership ability and experienceCompensation:Salary as per Teachers' Collective Agreement. Current salary range is $59,724.00 to $110,833.00 annually plus comprehensive benefits package.
