We are opening a full-time vacancy for Social Service Worker to join our team in CCSYR.

Position Overview:
The Social Service Worker provides client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive support to individuals, families, and communities served by CCSYR. This role focuses on assessing client needs, developing care plans, connecting clients with resources, and providing advocacy and counseling within the organization’s mission and values.

Expected Compensation:
Gross salary will be $31.78 per hour based on 37.5 hours per week. All payments are subject to the required statutory employee deductions.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments to address specific behaviours and understand clients’ overall abilities.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with clearly defined goals and strategies for achieving them.
  • Deliver counselling services using clinical techniques.
  • Support clients in developing life skills that promote independence.
  • Regularly reassess and revise treatment plans to ensure continued progress.
  • Provide guidance and updates to family members and caregivers, including strategies for reinforcing therapy at home.
  • Maintain and update client records, including progress reports and documentation in line with Canadian clinical standards.
  • Stay current with advancements in ABA theory, techniques, and therapeutic best practices.

Skills and competencies

  • Understanding of autism spectrum and counselling methods.
  • Strong knowledge of developmental and intellectual disabilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and reporting.
  • Keen observational skills to monitor client behaviours and identify changes over time.
  • Social perceptiveness and critical thinking to assess client needs and motivations.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Computer proficiency in email, word processing, spreadsheets, EMR systems, and data tracking software.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Social Service Work or a related field in human services.
  • Registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), or eligible for registration.
  • 3–5 years of experience supporting children, youth, adults, and families affected by autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • Experience providing client-centered support, case management, advocacy, and service coordination in community, clinical, or social service settings.
  • Knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles and behavioural support strategies, including behaviour plans, reinforcement techniques, and progress monitoring.
  • Experience conducting client assessments, identifying strengths and needs, developing individualized service plans, and evaluating outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian social service ethics, documentation standards, confidentiality requirements, and privacy legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate services and collaborate effectively with families, caregivers, schools, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams, including Behaviour Analysts, Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Psychotherapists, Physicians, Educators, and other service providers.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, strengths-based, and neurodiversity-affirming practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, crisis intervention, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written; additional languages such as Farsi, Mandarin, Cantonese, are an asset.
  • Experience supporting parents, siblings, fathers, and extended family members through education, advocacy, resource navigation, and emotional support is an asset.
  • Knowledge of crisis de-escalation, suicide risk assessment, safety planning, and community mental health resources are an asset.
  • Experience facilitating support groups, psychoeducational workshops, caregiver training, or community-based programs is an asset.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for community-based service delivery.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on client and family needs.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and inclusive service delivery.
