Description de poste

Child and Family Services of Grand Erie (CFSGE) is seeking committed, community‑minded leaders to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will help guide the strategic direction, governance, and accountability of an organization dedicated to the safety, well‑being, and long‑term success of children, youth, and families across the Grand Erie region.

Role Overview

Board members serve as stewards of CFSGE’s mission: to protect children, strengthen families, and support safe, nurturing environments where young people can thrive. The Board provides strategic oversight, ensures strong governance practices, and upholds the organization’s commitment to equity, reconciliation, and community partnership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and contribute to long‑term planning
  • Ensure strong governance, ethical oversight, and compliance with legislative requirements
  • Review and approve budgets, financial statements, and organizational priorities
  • Support the Executive Director through guidance, accountability, and performance evaluation
  • Participate in board and committee meetings, training, and community engagement activities
  • Promote CFSGE’s mission within the community and act as an informed ambassador
  • Champion equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenous reconciliation in all decision‑making

Desired Qualifications

CFSGE welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to child and family well‑being. Ideal candidates may bring experience in:

  • Child welfare, social services, education, or community development
  • Finance, accounting, law, governance, or risk management
  • Human resources, organizational leadership, or strategic planning
  • Indigenous knowledge, lived experience, or community advocacy
  • Equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti‑oppressive practice

Lived experience with the child‑welfare system, or experience supporting vulnerable children and families, is highly valued.

Time Commitment

Board members typically serve a 3‑year term and attend 10 board meetings per year, as well as participate in at least one committee. Additional time may be required for training, community events, or special initiatives.

Why Join the CFSGE Board

Serving on the CFSGE Board of Directors offers the opportunity to:

  • Influence the future of child and family well‑being in the Grand Erie region
  • Support an organization committed to safety, equity, and community partnership
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team of leaders and professionals
  • Strengthen your governance experience and community leadership
  • Contribute to meaningful, lasting change for children, youth, and families
